Always fascinated by Pleating, one day in the process of exploring form, I discovered that a piece of paper and a few creases with hill and valley folds when twisted along the diagonal edges of the piece of paper create fascinating doubly curved forms.

The Paper pleating poster was an attempt to explain this simple yet seemingly complicated process to a person who is trying origami for the first time.

Problem:

if you have a car and lived in Chicago, you must have used the CPM kiosk to park the car on the street and for sure must have got confused for the first time.

The assignment was to redesign the CPM kiosk without touching any of its mechanical components and make the process of booking a ticket more easier for the user.

After some user testing and observation of the Chicago parking meter, I realized that there was no proper hierarchy of information displayed.

A person using the kiosk does not have any proper visual hint from the information displayed on the Kiosk.

The process is quite simple, Basic three steps to PAY, PRINT ticket, DISPLAY ticket on curbside of the vehicle.

Process: The intention was to guide the user visually as to which part of the kiosk needs to be handled in a step by step process to print the ticket -  using contrasting colors and bold text such that the user is visually able to navigate the buttons to finish the process.

We were give a document of weather data for Asia-Pacific region for our visual communications class and asked to represent it on a letter sized paper using just one font style and a line drawing.

The initial thought process was to arrange the data sets according to their geographic location on an abstracted cardinal map and also create a typology for reference and display it at the top along with the title so that the reader navigates through the data easily.

Abstracted map

After a few iterations and feedback, I realized that it would be easier for a reader to perceive this data more easily if it was represented on an abstracted world map, because of its relevance and usage in our  day to day life.
